As part of her request
for a protective order against Johnny Manziel, Colleen Crowley outlined in an
affidavit what she said happened the night Manziel is accused of beating her up.
In the document, Crowley describes a horrific night in which Manziel keeps her
from leaving his hotel room, later throws her back in a car by her hair, slaps
her so hard she loses hearing in one ear, and tells her, “Shut up or I’ll kill
us both.”
It began on Jan. 29,
when Crowley went out to dinner with three other people. Next, they went to
Sidebar for about 20 minutes, then to Clutch Bar, where Crowley parked her car.
From there, after another 20 minutes they took an Uber to a club called Travis.
While there, the group texted some other friends, including Manziel, about an
after party at Hotel ZaZa. Somehow, they got Crowley’s car back from where it
had been parked, and at about 1:45 a.m. drove over to Hotel ZaZa. They hung out
in Manziel’s room for a bit, then Crowley’s three friends left. Once the two
were alone, they started talking “about things I had heard earlier in the week
about him being with a girl who had caused us problems in the past,” Crowley
said. If she stayed, she told Manziel, she would be sleeping on the couch.
Manziel threw her on the bed. She tried to leave, but he “restrained her” from
opening his room door. She tried to fight him off and “became very scared he
was going to hurt me.”
After the two got back
to Crowley’s Fort Worth apartment, Crowley said, the fight continued but was
“more verbal than physical.” Manziel smashed Crowley’s phone on the tile, so
she grabbed her computer to try and FaceTime her parents. Manziel, who had been
pacing outside, returned and asked if she had tried to FaceTime. She said no,
but he went over and saw her computer. “I was in my kitchen so out of fear for
my life, I pulled a knife out of my knife block and advanced toward him,”
Crowley said. “He ran out of the apartment. I threw the knife down and followed
behind him to make sure he had gone.” Manziel was still in the parking lot, so
she banged on her neighbor’s door. When an upstairs neighbor asked if she
needed help, she screamed, “Yes!” That’s when Manziel ran away. Crowley’s
request for a restraining order was granted, and it requires Manziel to stay
away from her for two years, WFAA in Dallas has reported. Dallas police
also are investigating.
