The 18-year-old sneakily rebranded the line as Kylie Cosmetics just
before the new shades became available, hinting at an expanded product range
Kylie and mom Kris, who were at the make-up brand's factory during
the sale, cried tears of excitement in a Snapchat story
Kylie Jenner and her mother Kris were reduced to tears of joy
on Friday afternoon, when, during a visit to the 18-year-old's Lip Kit lab, it
was revealed that the latest shades in her sought-after beauty collection sold
out in just ten minutes. In a video posted to Snapchat, which was simply captioned
'We r crying' the pair can be seen sobbing with happiness at the sell-out
success of the products, while another video shared by Kylie shows the two
wiping away tears, while Kris says: 'It's just so exciting!' The day was
a turning point for the young businesswoman, who subtly renamed her brand, and
its coordinating website and Instagram account, from Kylie Lip Kits to Kylie
Cosmetics, suggesting that a wider variety of products is soon to come.
And Kylie was not the
only one celebrating her success on social media; Kris also took to Instagram
to celebrate her daughter's achievement, gushing that they sold out in 'less
than 30 minutes'. The momager could be seen wearing a monogrammed lab coat as
she joined the 18-year-old to work on restocking the popular
cosmetics. Kris showed off a big smile as she covered her raven tresses
with a hairnet, also protecting her eyes with a large pair of goggles. The
doting mother gushed in the caption: 'At the lab with @kyliejenner!! 6 colors
just sold out in less than 30 minutes so time to make some more!!!!
@kyliecosmetics #KYLIECOSMETICS.' The Lip Kits were officially released for
purchase this afternoon after being teased on Kylie's Instagram yesterday. She
added three new shades, one of which was named after older half-sibling Khloe
Kardashian - the first of the sisters to get one of the Lip Kit colors named
after her.
Called Koko, in honor
of a nickname given to Khloe by her friends and family, the shade is a powdery
pink matte. But while Kylie neglected to bestow a Lip Kit tribute upon any of
her other siblings, Khloe is by no means the only member of the family to get a
mention in the line-up; in addition to Koko, the offerings also included a true
red named for the youngest Kardashian sister's grandmother Mary Jo and a rose
pink named Posie. In the brand's first iteration, Kylie’s late chihuahua,
Dolce, also earned a mention as the inspiration behind the name of a popular
beige pink shade. Earlier that day Kylie had promoted the surprise sale of
the latest on her Instagram account as well, sharing a photo from the Lip Kit
by Kylie website along with 'NOW,' and the hashtag 'proud mama.'
And Kylie shared a
photo on her Instagram of the two from that morning, ahead of donning their lab
coats and safety goggles. She showed off a white, leather Chanel backpack in
the bathroom mirror selfie, in which Kris could be seen leaning on Kylie's
shoulder. Kylie sported a fitted, white crop top, which revealed her taut
stomach, underneath a patterned, gold jacket. She finished off the look with a
pair of skintight trousers, wearing her dark locks in a center part, and styled
straight. 'I'm so excited to hold all 6 of my shades! Left to right: Mary
Jo, Koko, Posie, True Brown, Candy, Dolce #comingsupersoon #staytuned,' she
gushed.
